Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) congratulates Ms Ho Yuen-kei, a member of the Boccia Team of Hong Kong, China, for winning the silver medal in the Boccia Women’s BC3 Individual event at the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th National Special Olympic Games today (12 December).
Professor Alex Wai, President and Vice-Chancellor of HKBU, expressed his heartfelt congratulations to Ho Yuen-kei: “Following her remarkable achievement of winning two gold medals at last year’s Paris Paralympic Games, Yuen-kei has once again attained remarkable achievement at the Nation’s highest-level multi-sport event for persons with disabilities. Her continued success not only builds on her outstanding performance but also exemplifies her exceptional talent and indomitable spirit.” In recognition of Ms Ho’s outstanding accomplishments and contributions to society, HKBU conferred upon her the title of Honorary University Fellow in September this year.
Professor Wai added: “Another HKBU student, Matthew Yu Chun-yin also delivered an encouraging performance by winning three gold medals in the Games’ mass participation events in para dance sports held earlier. HKBU will stay fully committed to supporting the development of student-athletes, and we look forward to celebrating even more milestones by HKBU athletes on the sporting stage.”
Ms Ho Yuen-kei is an Honorary University Fellow and alumna of the Bachelor of Social Sciences in China Studies programme at HKBU. Mr Matthew Yu Chun-yin was awarded a scholarship under HKBU’s Talented Athletes Direct Admission Scheme and is currently studying in the Bachelor of Arts in Sports Industry Management programme.
